Priorities

Nine priorities guide HEAPC’s scope of work and activities:
  • Improve educational outcomes among service population youth and young adults.
  • Reduction of preventable risks that have been scientifically linked with four broad chronic disease conditions (cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, cancer, 
diabetes).
  • Increased health literacy and knowledge of basic methods to improve personal health 
(age appropriate medical screening, nutrition, exercise, appropriate condition man- 
agement).
  • Identification and elucidation of socio-cultural determinants of health.
  • Maternal-child health.
  • Reduction of addiction and substance abuse.
  • Environmental health.
  • Improved data quality for diverse and rural populations.
  • Translation of health research, social science, and epidemiological data.
